Too Many Shady Companies Out There

What is it with some companies out there? They advertise a certain salary or hourly contract rate, then when it comes time to offer you the position, they offer something MUCH less than what they had advertised, saying it's because of "the economy"? Luckily I have other employment choices, but it just effing kills me how companies can get away with this. Especially in this case....everything was going well, they were very nice at first, they called my references and were cool with them.....only for the company in the end to screw me over. To go into specifics, it was a freelance/contract job that had an ADVERTISED pay rate of $22 an hour. They asked me what I was looking for as far as pay, and I told them just that - $22 an hour. Well, the motherf--kers offered $15 an hour "because of the economy". "The Economy" is becoming too convenient of an excuse nowadays. I "politely" (or not) told the guy, after he made his $15 an hour offer and refused to go to $22 an hour like his company promised, to go hire an intern. Seriously. If a company is not gonna honor its word, or if they have no intentions of paying a certain amount, then do the right thing and hire a d**n intern. Needless to say I'm gonna report these morons to the BBB.
